The Delivery Factory
A software team built like a Factorio base. AI made dev fast, so watch where the work piles up now: code review and QA. Click machines, switch eras, build more AI beacons.
Click a machine to inspect it. Add more AI to dev and “Shipped / day” barely moves. Tick the upgrades one by one and watch the bottleneck move.
How to read it
- Business turns ideas into tickets (yellow belt).
- Dev + AI turns tickets into pull requests (red belt). The blue beacons are the coding agents.
- Code review approves PRs (blue belt).
- QA & testing checks them. One in four becomes a bug, and the splitter sends it back to dev.
- Release ships the rest. Every ten features launch a rocket.
Switch to 2022 · by hand and the belt in front of dev backs up. Switch to 2026 · with AI and the pile moves to review and QA. Build more beacons and watch “Shipped / day”: it barely moves.
Then tick the research upgrades one at a time. Faster review moves the pile to QA. So does reviewing by blast radius: only the risky PRs (orange dot) get a full human review, the rest get a quick check. Faster QA moves it to business: now nobody has enough work. Faster business pushes it back to review. Every fix moves the bottleneck somewhere else.
